*The Garden House is nestled in between the Rosella Perennial Garden and a nearby woodland forest. We think Brother James Miller, FSC, would feel right at home here, with his love of nature and working the land.

A martyr of the Catholic faith, Blessed Brother James Miller was beatified by Pope Francis on December 7, 2019, and is being considered for sainthood.

Following a desire to work with indigenous people, Brother James served students in Guatemala, teaching them farming skills and protecting them from forced entry into the military. He lived in a small Christian Brothers community, all determined along with the other Brothers to stay in the country despite warnings of imminent danger.

On February 13, 1982, while mending a wall in a garden courtyard, Brother James was killed by three hooded gunmen. He was only 37 years old.

Blessed Brother James (Santiago) Miller, FSC, is a beloved brother of the modern era, who visited Dunrovin for retreats and recreation.
