Summer – a time of lengthy days, sunshine, swimming, and picnics. At Dunrovin, exciting things are taking place as well. Two of our programs, the San Miguel Summer Camps and DLITE, will be starting again this June. Both of these experiences help youth to grow in their faith and confidence in our fun, safe, and nature-filled setting.
Our Summer Youth Camps bring students and alum from the San Miguel school in inner-city Chicago out to the retreat center. For free, these middle school youth get to enjoy new activities like wall climbing and fishing. Lots of fun is had and friendships with DLITE students are formed in this safe environment. DLITE, our other summer youth program, has high school students learning the skills of and implementing leadership, teamwork, and everyday faith. Mostly from around St. Paul MN but some international, these young adults work with the San Miguel Summer Camps along with having their own programming. Relatively new, DLITE has already motivated, challenged, and strengthened numerous youth. “There has just been so many awesome oppurtunites here to step up and lead or be a servant and to work together as a team, to listen to each other and share ideas,” shared one high school senior after his first week of DLITE last year.
