Junior and Senior High Getaway Retreats

Hosting junior and senior high school students throughout the year for Getaway Retreats, Dunrovin enjoys the energy and enthusiasm with which these young people seek their Christin faith.  Following in the tradition of St. John Baptist de La Salle who fostered fiath in children, our retreat mission is centered on the young -- explicitly proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ, making the means of salvation available to them, and preparing them to take their place in society.

Since 1993, our youth ministry staff has presented a variety of retreat getaways, such as "The Power of Love", "Signal Your Turn," and "Mirror-Mirror."  The youth spend time in quiet prayer with the Lord, finding sustenance for the challenges of their daily lives in meditation and sharing of Holy Scripture.  Time is also spent attending large group talks and sharing in small groups.

Fun activities fill the weekend for the students!  They may rival one another in large group games, such as snow football or splashing at the pool.  Dynamic skits and lively music enlighten spirits throughout the weekend.  Each day ends with the quiet of evening vespers. 

Meeting new friends as well as gaining new insights makes these retreat weekends a hit!

Q & A

How long is a retreat?  Retreats begin Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. and conclude on Sunday at 1:30 p.m -- except for the summer retreat which begins on Thursdays.

How much does cost?  Retreats cost $145 - due upon registration.  It covers lodging, meals, staff. Scholarships are available.

How do I get there?  Transportation to and from the retreat center is the responsibility of each retreatant.

Can my friend come with me?  You may register with a friend; however, we reserve the right to limit the number of participatnts from the same church so you can make new friends!  Space is limited and is filled on a first come, first served basis. 

Can I miss part of it for a prior commitment?  Due to the nature and structure of the retreat experience, participants must attend the entire retreat. If you cannot meet this requirement, you should attend another time that would allow you an opportunity for a complete experience.

How do I register?  You can call a youth minister listed below or email retreats@dunrovin.org       with the following information:  1. Name  2. Phone  3. Parish  4. Gender  5.  Retreat # or Getaway # you want to attend 

Final information will be sent to each retreatant prior to the retreat.
